Role of the Advisor
What is the role of our Investing in Volunteers Advisor?
Your Advisor is there to support you through the process, up to the point of assessment. The introductory meeting is a key opportunity to talk through any concerns and questions. Together with your advisor you will explore how much development work is needed to reach the standard, how to go about this, and how long it might take you.
Some key areas to discuss with your Advisor:
- Are you clear about the process of Investing in Volunteers process, including the role of the Advisor and Assessor?
- Do you have access to the website, using your username and password?
- How can you ensure the support and commitment of the whole organisation?
- Are there any major gaps in practice when compared with the IiV Standard? How can you address these?
- How will you go about reviewing your practice and completing the self-assessment?
- Do you feel confident about how to fill out the self assessment, and what kind of evidence to gather?
- Have you agreed the next step, including a target date?
- Do you know how to contact you Advisor if necessary and what other sources of support are available?
- Are you clear how many days’ assessment is likely to be required, and the cost of this?
After this meeting you will keep in contact with your Advisor mainly through email and by telephone. Additional visits can be made – these would normally incur an extra charge.
Your advisor will offer critical feedback on your self-assessment. He/she will work with you in a supportive and collaborative way - but cannot do the work for you! He/she may help to identify any additional sources of advice and support required.
NB. Your Advisor cannot be held responsible for any adverse judgements which are subsequently made at assessment. The advisor will generally accept your word concerning the practices and documents you have in place, whereas the assessor will seek independent evidence, including the view of volunteers, and can reach different conclusions on specific matters.

Beth yw rôl ein Cynghorydd Buddsoddi mewn Gwirfoddolwyr?
Mae’ch cynghorydd yno i’ch cefnogi drwy’r broses, hyd at y pwynt asesu. Mae’r cyfarfod cyflwyno yn gyfle allweddol i drafod unrhyw bryderon a chwestiynau. Ar y cyd â’ch cynghorydd byddwch yn ystyried faint o waith datblygu sy’n ofynnol i gyrraedd y safon, sut mae ymdrin â hynny, a faint o amser y mae’n debygol o gymryd.
Rhai meysydd allweddol ichi eu trafod gyda’ch Cynghorydd:
- Ydych chi’n glir ynglŷn â’r broses Buddsoddi mewn Gwirfoddolwyr, yn cynnwys rôl y Cynghorydd a’r Asesydd?
- Oes gennych chi fynediad i’r wefan, drwy ddefnyddio’ch enw defnyddiwr a’ch cyfrinair?
- Sut gallwch chi sicrhau cefnogaeth ac ymrwymiad y sefydliad drwyddo draw?
- Oes unrhyw fylchau mawr yn eich arferion o’u cymharu â’r Safon Buddsoddi mewn Gwirfoddolwyr? Sut gallwch chi fynd i’r afael â’r rhain?
- Sut byddwch chi’n mynd ati i adolygu eich ymarfer a chwblhau’r hunanasesiad?
- Ydych chi’n teimlo’n hyderus ynglŷn â sut mae cwblhau’r hunanasesiad, a pha fath o dystiolaeth i’w chasglu?
- Ydych chi wedi cytuno ar y cam nesaf, yn cynnwys dyddiad targed?
Ydych chi’n gwybod sut i gysylltu â’ch Cynghorydd os oes raid, a pha ffynonellau cymorth eraill sydd ar gael?
Ydych chi’n glir ynglŷn â sawl diwrnod o asesiad sy’n debygol o fod yn ofynnol, a chost hyn?
Ar ôl y cyfarfod hwn byddwch yn cadw mewn cysylltiad â’ch cynghorydd yn bennaf dros yr e-bost a’r ffôn. Mae modd cael ymweliadau ychwanegol – fel arfer, mae hynny’n golygu tâl ychwanegol bach.
Bydd eich cynghorydd yn cynnig adborth beirniadol ar eich hunanasesiad. Bydd ef/hi yn gweithio gyda chi mewn ffordd gefnogol a chydweithredol – ond ni all wneud y gwaith drosoch! Efallai y gwnaiff helpu i ganfod unrhyw ffynonellau cyngor a chymorth ychwanegol sy’n ofynnol, er enghraifft drwy gysylltu â’ch Canolfan Wirfoddoli leol
D.S. Ni all eich cynghorydd fod yn gyfrifol am unrhyw ddyfarniadau anffafriol a wneir ar ôl yr asesiad. Yn gyffredinol bydd y cynghorydd yn derbyn eich gair ynglŷn â’r arferion a’r dogfennau sydd gennych ar waith, ond bydd yr asesydd yn ceisio tystiolaeth annibynnol, yn cynnwys barn y gwirfoddolwyr, a gall ddod i gasgliadau gwahanol ar faterion penodol.
