Durham University
Durham University receives national award for staff volunteering scheme

A scheme which sees Durham University staff provide their skills and expertise to local community groups and projects has won a prestigious national award.
The University’s Staff Volunteering and Outreach (SVO) programme was presented with the Investing in Volunteers for Employers (liVE) mark by the United Kingdom Volunteering Forum (UKVF).

Evolve Project
The Evolve Project has recently achieved the Investing in Volunteers quality standard for the second time, in recognition of the excellent work they do with volunteers. Project Coordinator, Elaine James, is delighted that the project has been successful in renewing the quality standard after initially achieving it in 2008. ‘Our volunteers have supported the entire process and we’re really proud of everyone especially those who were interviewed on the assessment day.

Toogoodtowaste is a charity based within the County Borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf providing essential household items for a minimum donation to people in need within the local community.
Celebrating our Volunteers at Vale of Clwyd Mind
The Vale of Clwyd Mind was established over 25 years ago around the time of the closure of the Denbighshire asylum. The first project was to establish a residential care home. Subsequent projects have included being instrumental in establishing 2 user led organisations - North Denbighshire Survivor Network and the Conwy and Denbighshire Advocacy Service - two £1,000,000 projects aimed at supporting people to engage with valued occupations and the development of a social enterprise, a rural outreach programme covering two counties eight local offices, a carers project, a housing project (21 units) and day services. They are the regional centres for The A.S.I.S.T (suicide awareness training) and Youth and Adult Mental Health First Aid, two Welsh Government supported projects, also running a small social enterprise - Chimera which runs a station cafe, outside catering and a domestic and commercial cleaning business.
Vision 21
Vision 21 is fast approaching 25 years of serving South Wales with the best vocational training and routes into employment for people with learning disabilities. However, it is fervently agreed upon within the organisation, that their dedicated army of volunteers have been extremely important to the overall success of Vision 21.
Arts Factory
Arts Factory is an independent development trust based in Ferndale in the Rhondda, an area of acute deprivation that is committed to building a strong, inclusive community. Arts Factory has been operating since 1990, has been widely recognised as a model of good practice. The development has a strong track record of delivering innovative projects on the ground and of including the most marginalised people in an already disadvantaged community in its work.
Caia Park Partnership
Caia Park Partnership is a registered charity based in Caia Park in Wrexham. The Partnership has been in existence for over fifteen years and delivers a needs-led service for people on Caia Park. The Partnership tries through providing training, support and advice to enable local residents to achieve their full potential. They offer a complete and complementary range of services that inter-link to support an individual to develop new skills and gain experience and confidence.
RASA
RASA are based in NW Wales and provide specialist support services for anyone 14+ across North Wales who has experienced or been affected by any form of sexual violence. They offer a counselling, helpline, practical and emotional support, they can accompany people to court, Healthcare providers, the Police etc. They also offer placements to counselling students and train volunteers. They can offer awareness raising sessions to community groups and professionals.
Neath Port Talbot YOT
The Neath Port Talbot Youth Offending Team is made up of representatives from the local authority, Police, Probation Service, Social Services, Health, Education, Drugs and Alcohol misuse.
Student Volunteering Bangor
Student Volunteering Bangor (SVB) is a department within the Students’ Union, which has over 500 members, 250 of which volunteer on a regular basis. SVB volunteers currently work for over 430 hours each week, which promotes a close relationship between the university and the local community.
Student Volunteering Cardiff
Student Volunteering Cardiff is a charity run by the students at Cardiff University. They volunteer in and around the city of Cardiff, working with the elderly, young, disadvantaged and vulnerable members of the community. They love what they do and hope that you find everything you need on their website. If not their office is situated on the 3rd floor of Cardiff University Students’ Union.

NewLink Wales is an independent substance misuse organisation operating throughout Wales.
Keep Wales Tidy
A clean and tidy Wales is likely to be a safer Wales. Areas that are traditionally no-go areas after dark are more likely to be poorly maintained, plagued by graffiti and abandoned vehicles, and the domain of fly-tippers. Reducing the fear of crime has a real impact on the occurrence of crime. Greater public confidence in using their local environments reduces the opportunities for others to damage those environments.

According to their mission statement AC Neath Port Talbot exist - "To provide free community based services that facilitate social inclusion, while promoting a healthy and active retirement and continuing independence for the older citizens of Neath Port Talbot"
Vale Volunteer Bureau
The Vale Volunteer Bureau (VVB) was opened in 1996 and operates out of an accessible, shop-fronted premises on Holton Road. The premises are situated in Barry town centre. The team consists of both volunteers and paid staff. Volunteers compliment the work of the organisation, which in return provides them with the skills, knowledge and confidence that is needed to achieve their personal goals.
The Vale of Clwyd MIND Association
The Vale of Clwyd Mind Association involves around 30 volunteers in running a number of projects to support users of mental health services, their families and carers. The Sparks project, for example, encourages access to employment and training through its café, IT and administration, gardening and other services. It also provides supported housing, and social opportunities for clients.
Neath Port Talbot Youth Offending Team
The Neath Port Talbot Youth Offending Team is a multi-disciplinary team, made up of social workers, probation officers, the police, health, education and substances misuse workers. The team works with young people who are involved in or at risk of offending.
Discovery – Student Volunteering Swansea
The organisation initially decided to apply for the Investors in Volunteers Award in 2007. The charity had recently turned 40 years old and it was felt that the award represented a real acknowledgement of the work the charity had been doing with its volunteers for the previous four decades and continues to do in the present day.
Mind Cymru
Mind is the leading mental health charity in England and Wales. They campaign vigorously to create a society that promotes and protects good mental health for all - a society where people with experience of mental distress are treated fairly, positively and with respect.
Flintshire Community Parents – ‘This award means so much to us…’
Now its 10th year, Flintshire Community Parents provide support to parents throughout Flintshire, with offices in Buckley, Greenfield, Flint and Shotton. Volunteers support parents through a series of semi-structured home visits based on the sound principles of empowerment, in its simplest form it’s about sharing ideas as one parent to another in a friendly and informal way but with focus, purpose and direction.
