To celebrate achieving the Investing in Volunteers quality standard staff at Bristol Drugs project held a celebration party and invited a local star along to unveil the award.
Star of local TV drama 'Skins' April Pearson (Michelle) who is currently performing in the acclaimed Bristol Vic production 'Suspension' was delighted to be invited along and praised the project which is tackling such an important issue in Bristol.
Bristol Drugs Project has a long history of volunteering but they found that going through the award enabled them to take a fresh look at policies and update them.
Investing in Volunteers was an excellent opportunity for them to receive recognition for the excellent training and support that they offer their volunteers. It has bought the three different branches of volunteering within the organisation together and has meant that more joint training and social events have been organised.
Rachel Ayres at Bristol Drugs Project says “Going through the process of getting our Investing in Volunteers award was an excellent way to review our volunteer programme and increase the profile of volunteers within the agency.”
The celebration was a wonderful reason to get volunteers, service users and staff together to promote volunteering and enjoy some very positive press coverage.
