The Social Services Volunteering Scheme, links individuals as befrienders or places them in Social Services settings.
The Independent Visiting Scheme based at Hillside Secure Unit, Neath provides volunteers to ‘visit and befriend’, those children and young people who have little or no contact with their families or the contact is of poor quality.
The Enablers Project which aims to provide volunteers who have experience of caring for a child or young person with disabilities, with parents and carers in similar circumstances. The volunteers have a real understanding of the circumstances faced by the individuals they are linked with.
Volunteers Melanie Morgan, Nigel Cram, Steve Dunn and Margaret Jones spoke at the event highlighting some of their experiences and the enjoyment they had had by volunteering. They also gave thanks for the support that they had received from Gaynor Pickin, SSVS Volunteer Development Officer at Neath Port Talbot CVS.
