Why did you decide to go for Investing in Volunteers?
It was to demonstrate that we are a professional organisation in terms of our commitment to volunteers and the valuable work they carry out for the benefit of the town.
What benefits have you found from working towards Investing in Volunteers?
Improved our practice towards volunteers
Helped focus what we are about as a project
Gave the volunteers opportunity to input into direction and workings of the organisation – something we have continued through regular volunteers get together events and annual review.
Tell us about your experience of the assessment process in your organisation.
All who took part valued the opportunity to contribute not only towards the award but also to the bigger picture of the Street Angels project. Through completing the Assessment Criteria together as a team and the individual interviews with our Assessor, the IIV is owned by all those who volunteer not just the leaders of the project.
