Why did you decide to go for Investing in Volunteers?

It is part of our drive to establish quality standards, and to value our volunteers

What benefits have you found from working towards Investing in Volunteers?

It has drawn attention to some areas where we need to improve our care for volunteers. It has challenged us on areas we had not considered fully. The insistence on evidence was very useful, moving us beyond relying on anecdote and self-satisfaction.

How did the assessment work in your organisation?

One staff member led the process, supported by a small group of managers. The assessor met with the managers. In addition to preparing the paperwork and gathering evidence, we spent a day with a selected group of volunteers to work up our volunteer policy.
