Why did you decide to go for Investing in Volunteers?
Connect made the decision to go for the award to ensure that ALL volunteers were receiving the best qualitive and quantitive management support possible. As an organisation Connect have always strived to maintain quality standards at the highest level and felt that Investing in Volunteers was one way of achieving this.
What benefits have you found from working towards Investing in Volunteers?
Having looked at the aims and objectives of the award it was felt that Connect have benefited from the following outcomes:
a) Confidence in ’getting it right’ for volunteers
b) Ensuring good procedures were implemented and improving on others
c) Revisiting policies and procedures already in place
d) Comparing with other standard good practices
e) Enhancing volunteer recruitment
f) Involving volunteers in the process
g) Reassurance for funders
Tell us about your experience of the assessment process in your organisation.
Initially the assessment process looked daunting with a lot of hard work but on reflection and in consultation with the steering group we felt that Connect had achieved most of the indicators.
The introductory workshop was very beneficial and helped to gain a better insight into the process.
Overall our experience of the assessment process helped Connect as an organisation to strengthen all policies and procedures and became an exciting project to be involved in.
The enthusiasm from all members of the steering group overflowed and proved once again that all involved are committed to the workings of Connect.
