Why did you decide to go for Investing in Volunteers?

We are already an Investor in People organisation and wanted to achieve recognition for our management and development of our volunteers. We feel these quality marks are endorsements of our organisation’s ability to manage people. It also helps us to successfully attract and recruit people which in turn helps us to develop our services to clients.

What benefits have you found from working towards Investing in Volunteers?

It helped us to review our practices and develop a specific volunteer policy. The working party that was established to guide us through this process consisted of both paid workers and volunteers and everyone involved was incredibly supportive of the process.

The outcome proved what we thought we knew: that our organisation is a special place to work where everyone works as part of a supportive, friendly and professional team and is encouraged to develop their talents and skills.

Tell us about your experience of the assessment process in your organisation.

We found our assessor very supportive, she encouraged us throughout the process and was very professional in her approach to the assessment.
