What benefits have you found from working towards Investing in Volunteers?

Involving the whole organisation – opportunity to raise awareness and train all staff, bring regular items to staff meetings for discussion.

Opportunity to check we are implementing the policy fully, eg regular reviews

How did the assessment work in your organisation?

Two staff did initial self-assessment, brought to whole staff group at staff meetings and volunteers at team meetings for comment, half day training for staff on IIV and involving volunteers, brought to Trustee Board for discussion. Kept on staff meeting agenda as regular item to discuss any issues, eg recruiting ex-offenders, and generally raise awareness.
