| Made us review our policies and procedures together in a representative subgroup. Volunteers not at the strategic level of the organisation were given the opportunity to be involved in this process. |
| How did the assessment work in your organisation? |
| The initial self assessment was undertaken by a subgroup comprising of office volunteer, management committee volunteer Development worker and manager. The policies were reviewed by this subgroup and any amendments were made by this group and adopted by the board. |
| 5 Practical tips you would give another organisation working towards Investing in Volunteers |
- Involve all volunteers and members of staff at the initial interest stage ensure every one in your organisation sees the value in this award.
- From this meeting select a sub group representative of the organisations structure who will look at the initial self assessment
- Allow adequate time for this
- Subgroup made up of volunteers and workers should take responsibility to review and amend any policies.
- Remember that any new policies or amendments to existing policies is a positive action.
