Why did you decide to go for Investing in Volunteers?

Volunteers are very important to us and we need to ensure that they are given the correct support.

What benefits have you found from working towards Investing in Volunteers?

It has enabled us to examine are whole approach to volunteers and tighten up any weak points we had.

How did the assessment work in your organisation?

It was quite time intensive. However, by involving our volunteers we were able to share tasks and complete the assessment fairly quickly.

5 Practical tips you would give another organisation working towards Investing in Volunteers

• Involve your volunteers in writing and clarifying your policy document
• Similarly involve them in producing a volunteer information handbook
• Ensure that your management committee and/or Trustees are fully acquainted with what you are doing.

What training/learning did you require to help you meet the standards and where did you source it ? e.g.VDS, local Volunteer Centre, local college
