Why did you decide to go for Investing in Volunteers?

Having gained the benefits from going through the pilot IiV, we wanted to retain this quality award and continue to build on this.

What benefits have you found from working towards Investing in Volunteers?

It enabled us to look at our procedures and policies and to ensure that they applied equally to staff and, where relevant, our volunteers.

How did the assessment work in your organisation?

The assessment process worked very well. Our organisation has two sites with staff and volunteers at both. Interviews were arranged to accommodate individual work times, whilst still maintaining a service to our clients.

Practical tips you would give another organisation working towards Investing in Volunteers:

• Involve volunteers in the process at all times. Share tasks and roles.

• Be practical and allow time to formulate policies and procedures.

• Get buy-in from staff and volunteers on all changes.
