What have been the overall benefits of achieving/renewing the IiV accreditation?
The re-assessment process is helpful in highlighting areas that we can improve on but also to highlight some of the good practices we have. Also, it is interesting to see that whilst we provide a vast amount of information to our volunteers, not all of them digest that information fully and appear to be unaware of some of our updates. This has led us to consider how we best communicate with our 35,000+ volunteers.
Please provide a quote that sums up the IiV experience for your organisation
We are delighted to have retained the IiV award and welcome the feedback that we have received from our volunteers and the assessors. We are committed to improving the experience that all our volunteers have when giving their time to improve the lives of older people and the communities in which they live.
What tips would you give to other organisations working towards Investing in Volunteers?
1. Be honest and open - you can learn some important messages from the assessment.
2. Plan ahead, gather your information in readiness for the assessment
3. Undertake your own self-assessment so that you don't have any nasty surprises
