What have been the overall benefits of achieving/renewing the IiV accreditation?
A real focus across the Association on how we support and engage with volunteers. Time to reflect and review.
Please provide a quote that sums up the IiV experience for your organisation
Whilst we all focus on daily activity and strategic priorities, we do not always allow sufficient time in organisations to reflect on whether our activities strengthen and empower volunteers or hinder and frustrate them. The IiV process prompted the Association to find time and space for evaluating how we work with volunteers. We found a huge amount to be proud of, but also discovered ways in which we can work smarter still with volunteers.
What tips would you give to other organisations working towards Investing in Volunteers?
- Be honest
- Engage all volunteers and staff in the self-assessment and the solutions
- Recognise this as a way to improve rather than a pursuit of an award
- Celebrate what works
- Give the project the time and resources it deserves.
