How Volunteer Now will work with you to achieve Investing in Volunteers
As the Investing in Volunteers host organisation, we will provide you with a contact point for information regarding Investing in Volunteers. Organisations can access the Investing in Volunteers Standard of charge without committing to achieving the actual award. We encourage all organisations that involve volunteers to use the Investing in Volunteers Standard as a 'working document' within their organisation. The standard contains 46 practices which set out best practice in volunteer management. You could pick a practice that you would like to develop and add this into your organisation's work plan. Within the staff resources that you have you can work towards implementing all of the Investing in Volunteers practices within your organisation.
If your organisation decides to register to work towards achieving accreditation against the Investing in Volunteers Standard it will be provided with:
- An Introductory Workshop to help explain the accreditation process and the Standard and begin the self assessment process;
- An Advisor to assist you with the development work required to reach the Standard;
- Access to training and good practice advice/resources;
- A trained local Assessor to carry out your assessment against the Standard.

Getting Started
If your organisation has downloaded the Standard, read all the materials and advice included in this website, and is interested in gaining accreditation then you should register to start the process. Upon 'Registation of Interest' an organisation is asked to complete a Registration Form which provides necessary background information to assist us in determining the number of assessor days and cost involved, based on the number of volunteers, number of roles and number of sites/bases you have. 'Registering Interest' on the website is in no way binding. The Investing in Volunteers Manager at Volunteer Now will then contact you to discuss the price and process for your organisation to achieve Investing in Volunteers. Only once an organisation has agreed cost, will a contract be developed and the process will formally start.
