Groundwork North Wales was established in North Wales in 1991 as part of the pan-UK Groundwork Federation.
October 2012
We work in partnership with local communities, public bodies, private companies and other voluntary sector organisations to support communities in need. Our work covers five key areas – Green Energy, Environmental Education, Green Spaces, Green Living and Green Skills. We help people and organisations make changes in order to create better neighbourhoods, build skills and job prospects and to live and work in a greener way.
We have over twenty years experience in delivering bespoke projects that use the environment as a catalyst for building a more sustainable future. Last year alone we delivered 115 projects across North Wales, improving the quality of people's lives, their prospects and the places where they live, work and play.
Groundwork has always been dedicated to supporting volunteer opportunities and we have a wide variety of roles available within our key areas. We identify the development and experience that volunteers require in order to achieve progression in their personal situations. Our volunteer opportunities are based around gaining work experience, helping others manage their health conditions, building confidence and self-esteem and enjoying recreational activity like cycling and gardening.
We have worked hard to take the development of this support one step further with our application to achieve the Investing in Volunteers Award. Through this process we have committed to a high standard that ensures our volunteers are valued and supported through their personal journeys with Groundwork North Wales.
The achievement of the award has provided us with the opportunity to establish a consistent approach to the delivery of volunteer opportunities, in addition to progressing the training and development that is so very important to volunteers.
We are now excited and proud to be able to show our commitment to volunteers through our achievement of the Award. The service we now provide reflects best practice procedures and is measurable and consistent for all of those who choose to work with us.
One of our volunteers commented, ‘I think the volunteer programme works really well, I especially like meeting a diverse range of people coming together for a good cause and it gives me an opportunity to practice my skills’.
Another commented ‘Volunteering with Groundwork is very rewarding, it helps me gain qualifications that could lead to work and I just want to volunteer more!’
Groundwork North Wales will continue to develop programmes and opportunities that enhance the experience and skills of people who choose to work with us and ensure that opportunities are available to people of all abilities.

Cymraeg
Sefydlwyd Groundwork Gogledd Cymru yng Ngogledd Cymru yn 1991, fel rhan o’r Ffederasiwn Groundwork drwy’r DU gyfan. Rydym yn gweithio mewn partneriaeth â chymunedau lleol, cyrff cyhoeddus, cwmnïau preifat a mudiadau sector gwirfoddol eraill i gefnogi cymunedau mewn angen. Mae ein gwaith yn ymdrin â phum maes allweddol – Ynni Gwyrdd, Addysg Amgylcheddol, Mannau Gwyrdd, Bywyd Gwyrdd a Sgiliau Gwyrdd. Rydym yn helpu pobl a mudiadau i wneud newidiadau er mwyn creu cymdogaethau gwell, meithrin sgiliau a chyfleoedd am swyddi a byw a gweithio’n fwy gwyrdd.
Mae gennym dros ugain mlynedd o brofiad o gyflenwi prosiectau pwrpasol sy’n defnyddio’r amgylchedd fel catalydd i adeiladu dyfodol mwy cynaliadwy. Y llynedd yn unig cyflenwyd 115 o brosiectau ledled Gogledd Cymru, gan wella ansawdd bywydau pobl, eu rhagolygon a’r mannau lle maent yn byw, yn gweithio ac yn chwarae.
Mae Groundwork wedi bod erioed yn ymroddedig i gefnogi cyfleoedd i wirfoddoli ac mae gennym amrywiaeth eang o swyddogaethau ar gael yn ein meysydd allweddol. Rydym yn canfod y datblygiad a’r profiad sydd eu hangen ar wirfoddolwyr er mwyn gwella eu sefyllfaoedd personol. Mae ein cyfleoedd i wirfoddoli’n seiliedig ar gael profiad gwaith, helpu pobl eraill i reoli eu cyflyrau iechyd, magu hyder a hunan-barch a mwynhau gweithgareddau hamdden megis beicio a garddio.
Rydym wedi gweithio’n galed i fynd gam ymhellach wrth ddatblygu’r gefnogaeth hon drwy ymgeisio am Wobr Buddsoddi mewn Gwirfoddolwyr. Drwy’r broses hon, rydym wedi ymrwymo at safon uchel sy’n sicrhau bod ein gwirfoddolwyr yn cael eu gwerthfawrogi a’u cefnogi ar hyd eu teithiau personol gyda Groundwork Gogledd Cymru.
Mae sicrhau’r wobr hon wedi rhoi cyfle i ni i sefydlu dull cyson o gyflenwi cyfleoedd i wirfoddolwyr, yn ogystal â symud ymlaen â’r hyfforddiant a’r datblygiad sydd mor bwysig i wirfoddolwyr.
Rydym nawr yn hapus ac yn falch o allu dangos ein hymroddiad i wirfoddolwyr drwy gyflawni’r Wobr hon. Mae’r gwasanaeth a ddarparwn nawr yn adlewyrchu’r gweithdrefnau arfer gorau ac mae’n fesuradwy ac yn gyson i bawb sy’n dewis gweithio gyda ni.
Dywedodd un o’n gwirfoddolwyr, ‘Rydw i’n meddwl bod y rhaglen gwirfoddoli’n gweithio’n dda iawn; rydw i’n arbennig o hoff o gyfarfod amrywiaeth o bobl yn dod at ei gilydd dros achos da ac mae’n rhoi cyfle i mi ymarfer fy sgiliau’.
Dywedodd un arall ‘Mae gwirfoddoli gyda Groundwork yn foddhaus iawn, mae’n fy helpu i gael cymwysterau a allai arwain at waith ac rydw i eisiau gwirfoddoli mwy!’
Bydd Groundwork Gogledd Cymru’n parhau i ddatblygu rhaglenni a chyfleoedd sy’n gwella profiadau a sgiliau pobl sy’n dewis gweithio gyda ni a sicrhau bod cyfleoedd ar gael i bobl o bob gallu.
