The Welsh Refugee Council team would like to announce their achievement in attaining the Investing in Volunteers Award.
October 2012
The award is a welcome gesture in further celebrating the invaluable contribution made by volunteers to the service provided. The agency has a long standing history of working with volunteers, having been started by volunteers from a broad spectrum of the community as far back as 1990. The organisation currently host 26 volunteers in four offices based in Cardiff, Newport, Swansea and Wrexham working side by side with the staff team. Roles cover assisting reception, admin, media and communications, research and policy. Close to 21 different languages are spoken amongst the team, with diverse skills all driven by a passion to volunteer and support those in need.
Victoria Chitsiga, Volunteering & Partnerships Worker said ‘As Co-ordinator of the team, working towards Investing in Volunteers has availed me the opportunity to not only establish clear procedures to ensure our volunteers are actively involved in all our work but also to fully comprehend and appreciate the value volunteers make to the organisation and the wider society’.
‘The Investing in Volunteers indicators truly helped us further achieve our mission statement to ‘help asylum seekers and refugees rebuild their lives’. This achievement was attained through team effort and commitment by all. We look forward to continual recognition and appreciation of volunteers’ contribution to the organisation and the sector’.

Hoffai tîm Cyngor Ffoaduriaid Cymru gyhoeddi eu bod wedi llwyddo i gael Gwobr Buddsoddi mewn Gwirfoddolwyr. Caiff y wobr ei chroesawu’n gynnes fel dathliad pellach o gyfraniad amhrisiadwy gwirfoddolwyr i’r gwasanaeth a ddarperir. Mae gan yr asiantaeth hanes hir o weithio gyda gwirfoddolwyr; cafodd ei chychwyn gan wirfoddolwyr o sbectrwm eang o’r gymuned cyn belled yn ôl ag 1990. Ar hyn o bryd, mae gan y mudiad 26 o wirfoddolwyr mewn pedair swyddfa wedi’u lleoli yng Nghaerdydd, Casnewydd, Abertawe a Wrecsam yn gweithio ochr yn ochr â’r tîm staff. Mae eu swyddogaethau’n cynnwys cynorthwyo yn y dderbynfa, gwaith gweinyddol, cyfryngau a chyfathrebu, ymchwil a pholisi. Mae’r tîm yn siarad bron i 21 o ieithoedd gwahanol, ac mae eu sgiliau amrywiol i gyd yn cael eu sbarduno gan angerdd i wirfoddoli a chefnogi pobl mewn angen.
Meddai Victoria Chitsiga, Gweithiwr Gwirfoddoli a Phartneriaethau, ‘Fel Cydlynydd y tîm, mae gweithio tuag at wobr Buddsoddi mewn Gwirfoddolwyr wedi rhoi cyfle i mi, yn ogystal â sefydlu gweithdrefnau clir i sicrhau bod ein gwirfoddolwyr yn cael eu cynnwys yn llawn yn ein holl waith, i ddeall a gwerthfawrogi’n llawn beth yw gwerth y gwirfoddolwyr i’r mudiad ac i’r gymdeithas ehangach’.
‘Mae’r dangosyddion Buddsoddi mewn Gwirfoddolwyr yn wirioneddol wedi ein helpu i wneud mwy i gyflawni ein datganiad cenhadaeth o ‘helpu ceiswyr lloches a ffoaduriaid i ailadeiladu eu bywydau’. Cyflawnwyd hyn drwy ymdrech y tîm ac ymroddiad gan bawb. Rydym yn edrych ymlaen at fwy o gydnabyddiaeth a gwerthfawrogiad o gyfraniad gwirfoddolwyr at y mudiad a’r sector’.
