Crickhowell Volunteer Bureau renew their Investing in Volunteers Award

Published August 2014
At the recent Quality Assurance panel meeting Crickhowell Volunteer Bureau achieved renewal of their IIV Award.

Crickhowell Volunteer Bureau was established in 1992, promoting voluntary action within the community and actively supporting the development of local voluntary sector initiatives.

Bureau Manager Kerry Crosfield said ‘We decided to undertake the process of the Investing in Volunteers Award to ensure that we were continuing to follow the policies and procedures that we put in place to support our valuable volunteers. We were honoured to be successful in achieving the award three years ago and this time around were delighted that our continued support and admiration for our volunteers enabled us to succeed for the award this time’.

When we recruit volunteers for our projects our main aim is to give to them the experience, skills and support that they deserve and it is our way of thanking them for giving up their valuable time that they devote to us and continuing our projects.  Without valuable volunteers of all ages then many of our projects would not be as successful as they have been.

Their contribution makes a huge difference to ourselves and our local community and we are delighted that our commitment to providing quality volunteer opportunities has been demonstrated by us achieving this award’.

The town and surrounding villages have a population of approximately 6,000 residents many of whom experience social exclusion due to age, illness, disability or poverty.  The Bureau supports those clients who are unable to access community services and acts as an information resource on community issues.

They work closely with other voluntary and statutory organisations and are active members of Powys Network of Voluntary Bureau/Community Support Projects.

The Bureau whilst recruiting volunteers for over 40 local volunteer run organisations also operates the following projects that rely on volunteers.

• Community Car Scheme

•  Meals on Wheels

• Powys Befrienders

• Duke of Edinburgh Project

• Film Project

• HI-Society Defibrillator Project

Crickhowell Volunteer Bureau is situated in the centre of Crickhowell town and covers the area of Crickhowell Town and the surrounding villages of Bwlch, Cwmdu, Vale of Grwyney, Llanbedr, Llangattock, Llangenny, Llangynidr and Tretower working with volunteers of all ages on local community projects. Yng nghyfarfod diweddar y panel Sicrhau Ansawdd, llwyddodd Biwro Gwirfoddolwyr Crucywel i adnewyddu ei Wobr Buddsoddi mewn Gwirfoddolwyr.

Sefydlwyd Biwro Gwirfoddolwyr Crucywel yn 1992 i hyrwyddo gwaith gwirfoddol yn y gymuned a chefnogi datblygiad mentrau yn y sector gwirfoddol lleol.

Dywedodd Rheolwr y Biwro, Kerry Crosfield, ‘Fe benderfynon ni fynd drwy broses y Wobr Buddsoddi mewn Gwirfoddolwyr i sicrhau ein bod yn parhau i ddilyn y polisïau a’r gweithdrefnau y bu i ni eu rhoi ar waith i gefnogi ein gwirfoddolwyr gwerthfawr. Anrhydedd i ni oedd llwyddo i sicrhau’r wobr dair blynedd yn ôl a’r tro hwn roeddem ar ben ein digon fod ein cymorth a’n hedmygedd parhaus i’n gwirfoddolwyr wedi’n galluogi i lwyddo i ennill y wobr unwaith eto.

Pan fyddwn yn recriwtio gwirfoddolwyr ar gyfer ein prosiectau, ein prif nod yw rhoi’r profiad, y sgiliau a’r cymorth maent yn eu haeddu a dyma yw ein ffordd o ddiolch iddynt am roi’r amser gwerthfawr maent yn ei neilltuo i ni ac am gynnal ein prosiectau. Heb wirfoddolwyr gwerthfawr o bob oedran ni fyddai llawer o’n prosiectau mor llwyddiannus ag maent wedi bod.

Mae eu cyfraniad yn gwneud gwahaniaeth enfawr i ni a’n cymuned leol ac rydym wrth ein boddau bod ein hymrwymiad i gynnig cyfleoedd gwirfoddoli o safon yn cael ei brofi a’i arddangos drwy sicrhau’r wobr hon’.

Mae’r Biwro yn cefnogi’r cleientiaid hynny na all gael mynediad at wasanaethau cymunedol ac yn gweithredu fel adnodd gwybodaeth ar faterion cymunedol.

Mae’n gweithio’n agos gyda mudiadau gwirfoddol eraill a mudiadau statudol ac yn aelod gweithgar o Rwydwaith Biwros Gwirfoddol/Prosiectau Cymorth Cymunedol Powys.

Mae’r Biwro’n recriwtio gwirfoddolwyr ar gyfer dros 40 o fudiadau lleol a weithredir gan wirfoddolwyr, ond mae hefyd yn cynnal y prosiectau canlynol sy’n dibynnu ar wirfoddolwyr.

• Cynllun Car Cymunedol
