Shelter Cymru achieve Investing in Volunteers Award

Shelter Cymru is the most recent organisation in Wales to achieve the prestigious Investing in Volunteers Award, helping thousands of people every year who are struggling with bad housing or homelessness and campaign to prevent it in the first place.

We are absolutely delighted to have achieved the Investing in Volunteers standard.  We see this as a very clear and tangible outcome for all the work we have undertaken in embedding good practice around volunteer management throughout the organisation.  This has only been possible by the continuing commitment and investment made by our leadership which has allowed us the time and resources to go through this assessment process'.

Whilst our Volunteer Programme has a long history, the last few years have seen a large increase both in the numbers we are able to recruit and the variety of roles we are able to offer. Shelter Cymru genuinely wants to be an organisation that is prepared, welcoming and supportive of volunteers across all our services so it was important that we insure that our volunteer management processes were up to the challenge, Invertors in Volunteers accreditation gave us this opportunity.   We now have volunteers who are trained to support our Shelter Cymru Live Online and Telephone Support Service, Valleys Inclusion Project, 50+ Project and of course our core Housing Services, Campaigns and Fundraising Teams - all committed to supporting people who are at risk of homelessness.

Going through this process and the lessons we've learned along the way has reinforced our confidence that volunteering is a vital and integral resource supporting the work we do.

Moving forward, we know that with continued effort in maintaining these high standards of volunteer management we can do even more. The effort and support of our volunteers will play an ever more important part in ending homelessness in Wales.

Cymraeg:
Shelter Cymru yn sicrhau Gwobr Buddsoddi mewn Gwirfoddolwyr
Shelter Cymru yw’r mudiad diweddaraf yng Nghymru i sicrhau’r dyfarniad uchel ei barch, Gwobr Buddsoddi mewn Gwirfoddolwyr. Mae’r mudiad yn helpu miloedd o bobl bob blwyddyn sydd mewn trafferth â thai gwael neu ddigartrefedd ac yn ymgyrchu i’w atal yn y lle cyntaf.

Rydym wrth ein boddau i gyrraedd nod safon Buddsoddi mewn Gwirfoddolwyr. Rydym yn ystyried hyn yn ganlyniad eglur a sylweddol ar gyfer yr holl waith rydym wedi ei wneud i ymgorffori arfer da wrth reoli gwirfoddolwyr trwy gydol y sefydliad. Mae hyn wedi bod yn bosibl o ganlyniad i ymrwymiad a buddsoddiad parhaus ein harweinwyr, sydd wedi rhoi amser ac adnoddau inni i ddilyn y broses asesu hon.

Er bod gan ein Rhaglen Wirfoddoli hanes hir, mae'r ychydig flynyddoedd diwethaf wedi gweld cynnydd mawr yn y niferoedd yr ydym wedi gallu eu recriwtio, yn ogystal â'r amrywiaeth o rolau y gallwn eu cynnig. Mae Shelter Cymru wir yn awyddus i fod yn sefydliad sy'n barod, yn groesawgar ac yn gefnogol o wirfoddolwyr ar draws ein holl wasanaethau, felly roedd yn bwysig inni sicrhau bod ein prosesu rheoli gwirfoddolwyr yn barod amdani, a rhoddodd yr achrediad Buddsoddi mewn Gwirfoddolwyr y cyfle hwn inni. Ar hyn o bryd, mae gennym wirfoddolwyr sydd wedi cael eu hyfforddi i gynorthwyo ein Gwasanaeth Cymorth Ar-lein a Dros y Ffôn Shelter Cymru Live, Prosiect Cynhwysiant y Cymoedd, Prosiect 50+ ac, wrth gwrs, ein Gwasanaethau Tai craidd, ein Hymgyrchoedd a'n Timau Codi Arian - ac mae pob un ohonynt yn ymroi i gefnogi pobl sydd mewn perygl o fod yn ddigartref.

Mae mynd drwy'r broses hon, a'r gwersi rydym wedi eu dysgu ar hyd y ffordd wedi atgyfnerthu ein hyder bod gwirfoddoli yn adnodd hanfodol ac yn rhan greiddiol o'n gwaith.

Gan edrych at y dyfodol, rydym yn gwybod, gydag ymdrech barhaus i gynnal y safonau uchel i reoli gwirfoddolwyr, y gallwn wneud mwy fyth. Bydd gan ymdrech a chymorth ein gwirfoddolwyr ran bwysicach fyth wrth roi terfyn ar ddigartrefedd yng Nghymru.

I gael gwybod mwy neu os hoffech gyfrannu at waith y mudiad cysylltwch â Helen Martin 01792 483079 This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. neu ewch i www.sheltercymru.org.uk
